Hennessy Funds Wins 2012 MFEA STAR Award in Wild Card Category

On Wednesday, Oct. 24, Hennessy Funds proudly brought home a victory at the Mutual Fund Education Alliance (MFEA) STAR Awards! Hennessy Funds’ New York City press luncheon clinched the Wild Card category for retail communications by small firms at MFEA’s award dinner in Chicago.

Hennessy has hosted the event every year for the past four as an integral part of their public relations program. At this year's event, planned for late November, Neil Hennessy, firm’s portfolio manager and CIO and Brian Peery, co-portfolio manager, will again host the luncheon arranged by SunStar Strategic.

“These initiatives have proven to be quite successful. Everyone seems to enjoy the opportunity to be able to talk face-to-face. It’s a really efficient way for journalists to get a sense of our personality as a firm and for us to solidify relationships with them,” mused Hennessy.

In his remarks last year, Neil re-introduced the Hennessy Focus 30 Fund along sharing the firm’s outlook on the broader U.S. equity markets. Dozens of journalists attended, resulting in an array of news stories and bolstered Hennessy’s role as an industry thought leader.
SunStar Strategic and Hennessey Funds have worked together for nearly eleven years on strategic marketing programs.

The 5th annual Hennessy Funds press luncheon is scheduled for Tuesday, November 27th at noon in NYC. For additional details please contact Melissa Murphy at mmurphy@sunstarstrategic.com or 703-894-1056.

The STAR Awards recognize excellence in mutual fund marketing and communications and are presented annually. With a 15 year history, they are a prestigious recognition of companies in the fund industry who excel in marketing, education and communications for shareholders, advisors, plan participants and the investing public.
